Gorilla Biscuits formed in 1987 by Anthony “Civ” Civarelli, Nick Drysdale and Arthur Smilios when they attended the same High School on Long Island, fastly evolved into a powerhouse of the scene. They still had no name but they needed one for the promoter to put on the flyer for a show. Out of fun they chose “Gorilla Biscuits” because at that time in the late 1980s a popular drug at parties was the so called “Ape Shit”, which is also called “Gorilla Biscuit” because of the huge size of the pills.
